Drastic
Songwriter, Musician, Producer, Writer, Athlete, Husband; Art Philip transforms into the Entertainer known as "DRASTIC" [a part of the army of other talented musicians who call themselves "Them Island Boyz"]. Drastic was born in the Land of 365 beaches, Sea, Sand and Sun, Antigua. Drastic began his music career professionally having achieved the 2007 Virgin Islands Idol title [which he shares with another member of the "Them Island Boyz", U.S Virgin Islands native, Brandon Varlack a.k.a. "B. Royal]. He exploded unto the Soca scene with his groovy song "Sugary Waistline" in 2010 which took him all the way to the Finals of Antigua’s 2010 Soca Party Monarch Competition, which was his first time entering the competition and first time doing a Soca song in his music career. Within one week of posting the song on Youtube it received over 18,000 plays. “Sugary Waistline” also received the award for best Soca music video from CariVibez in 2011. Drastic has been #1 on the ReverbNation website in the Nation of Antigua & Barbuda. Over the past two years he has worked with other heavy hitters in the music industry such as Sean Kingston, Spragga Benz, Honorebel, Jemere Morgan [of the Morgan Heritage Family] and Jah Cure with whom he and B.V teamed up with to record the song "Kiss Me Girl". The official music video for “Kiss Me Girl” landed on the #1 spot on Tempo’s Cross Caribbean Countdown & #6 on MTV Base Africa. A number of his other music videos have made it to #1 on Tempo including “Life II Live” [with B.Royal], “So Seductive” [with B. Royal], and “Blasting Away” [with J.Nation and LogiQ Pryce of Them Island Boyz]. The “Blasting Away” 2d Animation video was awarded "Most Creative Use of Anime in A Music Video" in the 2012 Animae Caribe Animation and Digital Media Festival in Trinidad & Tobago. Drastic has collaborated with Richie Loop out of Jamaica with “Winna” & most recently Shal Marshall from Trinidad with "Bam Bam REMIX". He has already started off 2013 with the release of a remix to Rihanna's "Diamonds" featuring upcoming female singer out of Jamaica Kim Nain and is produced by Jus Bus [J.Nation]. Drastic is married to Sheroma "Brass.Angel" Hodge-Philip, a former pageant queen and 2011 Miss Universe contestant as well as professional Multimedia Artist, Jane of All Trades and Drastic’s Manager. Drastic has a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the University of the Virgin Islands. This 28 year old will be dropping his first solo album "U.F.O. [Umbrella for Oblivion" this fall 2013.
